All of my students are required to submit a journal-type entry about something musical. Length is to be about 100-200 words. If you did a special musical or artistic activity this summer, please write about that. If you attended a concert or theater performance lately, write about that. If you like a particular musician, write about them. If none of these ideas work for you, ask me to approve another topic. Spelling counts. All blogging is due by Monday, October 5 at 12:01 a.m. (This is one minute after midnight, early in the morning of Monday, Oct. 5. Do it early because late is not accepted.)

5th period Heads Up Assembly 10/22/09- 5th period Student Observations
-It was really sad.
-It was interesting.
-We learned new things that can help us.
-It was very effective to the people that didn’t know it could damage you that badly.
-It had some disgusting parts.
-It touched a part of me that when I’m put in a situation I have an emotion that will bring back the memories.
-It made us more aware of the longterm effects that drugs and alcohol can actually have on you.
-We respect Officer Pagano for what she does and goes through every time she does the program and also the fact that she sees all of that stuff in person.
-It was depressing.
-It makes you realize that you have a good life and that we’re happy to be alive.
*Anyone can be affected by drugs, even if you have the will to say “no”.
-Cigarettes, even with a filter, are the number one chemical killer. It is a disgusting habit and a waste of time and money.

8th period observations
Though it is repetitve it still backs up the idea that drug influence is ever growing and is not stopping.
This is not a game it’s real.
You shouldn’t drink and drive because it can hurt people and ruin families.
It bothers me that as the officer tries to give the presentation, people don’t take her seriously because they are laughing and joking.
I respect the officer and the parents that present the program.
Even posessing drugs can make you lose everything.
Don’t do drugs and don’t be friends with people who do drugs.
Drinking is just as bad as drugs(story about a DUI who shot himself because of parents and being under pressure.)

hello Mrs. Framptonia
This summer I had some amazing opportunities to to learn about and immerse myself in the the things i love! I started my summer by going to YPTW summer camp for a week. While I was there I studied all aspects of musical theatre. I got to learn from some amazingly talented people, such ad Brian Lowdermilk and Kate Kerrigan, an extremely talented writing team who taught me so much about music and the whole process of writing musicals. I met some very talented friends who i will never forget and i hope to stay friends with. I learned to really connect with my character and make my audience feel my pane and joy in a real way. I worked through some of my struggles and am definitely a better performer for that. I hope to work with all of these people in the future, I love them all.
Later this summer i had the chance to go see two different musicals on Broadway. First i saw “The Marvelous Wonderettes”. This show featured four women who knew how to create a perfectly comedic atmosphere and a variety of relationships with people who didn’t exist. It was a blast! Secondly I saw “In The Heights”. I have been waiting to see this show for a very long time and I was not in any way disappointing. I absolutely fell in love with this show. I am going to see it again in a moth or so. I sat on the edge of my seat for about three hours laughing and crying. The music was captivating. The energy from the pit was almost tangible, filling the air with electricity that was only surpassed by the actors on stage. The made me fall in love, feel loss, and experience their struggles with them. I can’t wait to see this show again and i would recommend it to anyone and everyone at all. I absolutely loved this show and seeing it truly was one of the best parts of my summer. =)

This summer, I was able to visit my brother and best friend Gina at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. I was able to see how Jon and Gina spent there (their) time at Interlochen. I visited both cabins and met many of their new friends. It was cool to see all of the kids walking around with their instruments. It was like one big, happy, musical, artsy place. I really liked it there. I was also able to go to one of Jonathan’s concerts. He was a part of Interlochen Philharmonic. The orchestra sounded really great. Another performance I attended was the last concert called Les Preludes. WYSO, IP, WYWS, and ISB all performed in this concert. Also included in this finale were the dancers who had been studying at Interlochen. It was a really great thing to see and I was glad to be there with Gina watching Jon take part in such an amazing experience.

Over this past summer, I had the privilege to go to New York with a select group from our school. Many who went were from the Pennsville Vocal and Instrumental Academy. This trip was centered around seeing the performance of The Phantom Of The Opera on Broadway. This was a show we had all heard of, if not seen the movie, or read the book. I happen to enjoy this musical a great deal. This trip was something I couldn’t let pass me by. Although this Broadway production was different from the movie most people know, I found it to be exquisite. It was better than anything I could imagine. The pure talent alone in the actors and orchestra was amazing. This was my first time seeing a Broadway show, and I hope it is not the last one. I would highly recommend this show to other people interested in musicals or just fans of the movie. It was well worth the bus ride!

I love all types of music. I listen to any song that catches my attention. There isn’t really a speific (specific) artist that I listen to. Over the summer I really listened to Cobra Starship. I always listen to their music now becuase (because) it always puts me in a better mood. I don’t like artist(s) who are always coming out with dramtic songs about failure or some other depressing issue. But Cobra Starship can always, and will always, get me into a happier mood. My friends and I are hoping to go to a concert soon. The band Breathe Carolina will be performing on November 19th. It’ll be alot of fun to see them perform, I’m looking forward to going.
Well, I’ll see you tomorrow in class. Bye

This summer I did not go to see any different musicals or plays, but music was a big part of my summer. Every where I went there seemed to be music playing in the backround. In July I flew to the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, where I was furtunate enough to experience a different type of music. The sounds of the Carribean are very unique. They play very uplifting and free spirted music. I got to watch musicians playing randomly on the beach to entertain those around them. The music I heard throughout my vacation put a smile on my face and put everyone in the mood to celebrate. I do not think my vacation in the Carribean would have been the same without the music that was always there to put me in a tropical mood. Also, even when I was home during the summer, there was always music playing on my radio. My friends, family and I all enjoyed the music everyday while we sit out in the sun by the pool. Music made my summer memorable, fun and very happy. It was always there to put me and those around me in a better mood.

Over the summer i(I) got the opportunity to go with PMHS to see the Phantom of the Opera on broadway. The Phantom of the Opera has always been my favorite show and was extremely impressed with the symphany(symphony) orchestra and acting overall. i didnt think the two main characters had very much chemisty for each other which i think threw off the show a bit. But overall it was an excellent show. Over the summer i also was priviliged to get some guitar lessons from my dad. He taught me some basic chords and a few songs. I am really looking forward to learning more and hopefully becoming really good at it. I am also a songwriter so i wrote many songs over the summer and a few my dad helped me write music to. He helped me compose some of the chords to them on piano while he played on guitar. I hope one day i will get the opportunity to be able to record some of my songs and maybe create a demo cd. =]

Over the summer my favorite musician was Lacey Nicole Mosley. She’s the lead singer in the band named Flyleaf. Lacey was born in Arlington, Texas on September 4, 1981. Lacey attended high school in Gulfport, she was the lead singer for the band Sofa Kingdom. Things were rough between her mother, she was forced to move with her grandmother in Gulfport, Mississippi. Lacey attended church and eventually became a Christian. In 2000, Mosley began to play with drummer James Culpepper. They worked with guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, forming a group named Passerby, renamed Flyleaf June 2004. Mosley was married on September 6, 2008 to Joshua Sturm, the guitarist of the band Kairos. My favorite song on the album Flyleaf was “Cassie” and “I’m so sick”. That is what I mostly listened to during the summer.

This summer I did a Choreography DVD Shoot in NYC for a company called iTheatrics. It was held at Riply Greir Studios in Chelsea, well known as the studio of broadway auditions. I basically got a e-mail in late June of them asking me to join 30 other kids out of 1,000 who auditioned, to produce this shoot. In the beginning of the summer I was not planning on doing this based on the mileage, gas and all the stuff. With an offer with no audition required I couldn’t help but join. After I replied, they sent out a packet I got two weeks later with all the information. They picked a few musical numbers for the three plays of, High School Musical 2, Flat Stanley, and Beauty and the Beast. They obviously expect you to memorize each song in and out so we can spend much time on choreography. The first day of practice was really cool, I met people from California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York. We had literally 4 days to memorize 12 dance number of their chosen from each three pieces. Practices were from about 9 in the morning to about 6 at night, it was pretty annoying but as the days go on you get an attachment with your friends to not wanting to leave beings of where everyones from. Once the days were over it was time to finally shoot. We had two days all together of shooting held at Symphony Space Theatre founded by Stephen Soundheim. If you look up my name on google, you will find the first link that says my name, in 2005 for his 75th birthday, yet involved in iTheatrics my name is still present on his website for performing apart of Into the Woods Jr. for some reason. Anyway, beings of us being able to have to lip sync wasn’t that hard. Just mouth the words as your doing the dance numbers a few times and your good. It was like making a movie but a DVD that you can have forever. It was a good expierience and I actually stayed with a few of my friends for a couple days that live closer to NYC then I do so theirs not much hassle of getting up at 5:30 every morning and to get on the road! I still have a bestfriend who lives in Georgia haha, her name is Lyric actually and she’s the coolest and nicest person in the whole world. We probably are gonna end up going to Juliard together as we planned a few months ago. I’m sure this is the longest so I’m going to stop now but It was a great expierience and something I will never forget.

I had a wonderful summer filled with many opportunities to enjoy participating in theatre. My first experience was with Oakwood summer theatre. Our play was “Alice Through The Looking Glass”. It was my first experience with Oakwood and I played two parts. One of which was the Jabberwocky where I had a chance to dance a fight scene with Alice who was played by Katie Giboson. My other part was a lady in waiting for the White Queen. I also was selected to sing thee descant at the end of the play when the King played by Andrew Cox was singing to Alice. I made many new friends. My second experience was with the Pennsville Summer Theatre group directed by Mr. Peters and Mrs. Hooks. We did the play of “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs”. I was honored to get selected to play the part of Snow White. We had seven days to pull together the play. We worked everyday from 9 till 2:30 in the afternoon in the middle school band room. It was the largest audience ever for the summer program and there hoping to move it to a bigger room. Both plays turned out to be amazing and I had a great time. Can’t wait till next summer. (:

Over the summer break, I got the privalege (privilege) to go visit my family in Puerto Rico, and go on a cruise with my aunt and my best friend in the west indies. I know what you are thinking, this doesn’t really relate to anything music wise, but it really does. While in PR, I had the opportunity to listen to music that came from my mothers country. Hispanic music is a lot more different then what you rarely hear on the radio. It isnt all reggaeton and ‘sexy dancing’. There is in fact a lot of that, but there is also a lot of more alternative music and traditional, like salsa and merengue. I remember when i was in my aunts house, i would always dance with my family to old salsa from the 80′s, and it was great. I wish that I could of stayed longer then a month, but unfortunately i could not. While on the cruise, I visited 5 little islands (Barbados, Antigua, St.Lucia, St.Maarten, and St.Croix) each one was different and cultural, and when ever i got off the boat, i always heard some indie music being played live by one of the local groups. Also, while on the cruise ship i had the privalege of meeting and greeting the Nelson Brothers on their tribute concert for their fathers music (Ricky Nelson). It was sad when i had to leave what felt like home, and come back to Pennsville. While here, I did nothing really interesting that had involved music other then practicing my violin. So yeah, that was my summer wrapped up pretty much.

This past year I started my fifth year of dance. Each year we do a recital, which consists of dancing and acting. This year the recital was Oz: Beyond the Rainbow (Wizard of Oz). My first year the recital was Annie. I was Duffy-one of the orphans. That’s when I first started with acting. My second recital I was in was Mulan- a Journey to Honor. That year I had a bigger role. I was the emperor of China. The third year was called adventures to Neverland. My third year of acting had started. I was one of the lost children. Last year was Adventures in Wonderland where I was one of the queen’s cards painting the roses red. Many of my friends dance with me at PCPAT. Two of my cousins also dance, one is 9 and the other is 5. I just started competition this year. Our team is like family. We are all there for each other. Our recital this year was the best one yet. We have from age 4 to adults, almost anyone can be a good dancer if you try and put your mind and heart into it. I think the dancers have an advantage because we can see what happens behind the scenes and what it takes to put the production together. The week before the show is our most dreadful part of the year. For the whole week its nothing but dance after dance and if you don’t do it right the first time you end up doing it again until you do. You have no idea! If dance were any easier it would be called football. We’ve seen almost everything: sprained ankles, broken wrists. For the last three years we’ve won first place for best dance group in the September fest parade. These are only some of my experiences with dancing. Every year gets better and better. You should come and see the show. The little mermaid is the theme this year. It’s a show for the whole family! This is an excellent year. Come on out and watch!

For the past few months I have retreated far into the magical world of musical theatre. Through observation I learned how musicals are handled, and the extent of their efficiency, between two different theatres. Upon seeing The Producers in May at the Walnut Street Theatre I noticed how the show added and changed material to conform to the audience of today. The acting and singing were well done but the show lacked the simplicity of its hilarious humor. When I experienced the same show at Wilmington Drama League I realized that staying true to the show’s script and original design can make for a better experience as well as community theatre can have just as much talent as a professional theatre. I have to acknowledge the dynamite performance and choreography of Mr. Peters, Roger, and David Wells, Max.
Another experience of my own over the summer was my involvement in three musicals. The work of being involved in three musicals alone in the span of two months helped push me harder than ever before and help me manage my priorities between shows. When I did Alice Through the Looking Glass and Guys and Dolls I was able to effectively transition between the serious role of Captain Von Trapp and that of a whimsical King or a gambler. I surprisingly learned a great deal more of Guys and Dolls compared to when I did the show in 6th grade.

This summer I went to Rowan’s Young Vocal Scholars program. It was amazing. We stayed in the rowan town houses and all had our own rooms. My ‘roommates’ and I were all like best friends that week. We sung (sang) for what felt like a million hours a day, but I loved every second of it. I was the only freshman there, everyone else were juniors, seniors, or freshmen in collage. For like the first day or two I felt overwhelmed and didn’t think I could keep up with everyone else’s talent and ability. We learned 10-12 pieces of music in four days and only two or three were in English. I learned so much in those days. We were given presentations on collage degrees and futures in musical theatre and opera. All the instructors were so accomplished and talented. Every time we sang, it sounded so pretty. This camp helped me to realize music is what i want to do with the rest of my life. I can’t wait to apply and hopefully get in again next year! :]

This summer I participated in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at our school. I was given the role of Dopey. Apparently that role fits me…well that’s what people say. It was a really great learning experience for me. I usually get nervous when I perform in front of people but this time I didn’t. I was happy that I got a speaking role, because I’m more confident with speaking in front of people than I am singing in front of people. The experience did give me more confidence though, because before I would of been extremely nervous when we performed but I was totally fine. Since I realized that I could actually get words out while performing made me realize that I am actually a bigger fan of acting than I am singing. I still love singing but now I know that I can act also. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to participate in something this wonderful. I plan to continue to do this program for the next four summers.

This summer I saw a beautiful take on the world known and loved musical
Phantom of the Opera, in New York City at the Majestic Theater. A play that takes you on the ride of loyalty, love, greed, and sacrifice; and believe me it was a glorious ride. The set brought the places like the Middle East and Paris to your very feet. You followed the characters to secret meetings on roof tops, mysterious underground hideouts, dazzling parties and abandoned Opera Houses without more then (than) the slightest movement of your head. Emotion beamed from the musical voices of sopranos to basses. Innocents, anger, love, fear, hate and disgust rang off the walls and straight into the ears of the viewers which drew tingles from your spin. The actors sucked you in like a vacuum twirling you around in there mind set. Phantom breaks your heart as he beholds, from an angel’s wings, the woman who he trained and loved betray him. Christine causes you to plea out with her as she cries for her Father’s guidance in a cold a lonely graveyard. It is these moments, emotions, and sets that made this production the most memorable chapter of my life.

This Summer I saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at the middle school, and Guys and Dolls for the Oakwood Summer Theatre. I think Snow White was pretty good for not being a professional show. Mr. Peters and Mrs. Hooks, as well as the woman who made the props did very good. Guys and Dolls had really good props, partially because that was more professional. Some of the singing voices were amazing, some not good at all. But there was good dancing and good humor. There were people in that play who truly had the meaning of having the cocky attitude. The girl who played Adalaide was mean. But for the most part, it was a good play.

This past summer I participated in four theatrical performances. Three of those were with the Oakwood Summer Theater at Salem High School. Two musicals (“Alice Through the Looking Glass” and “Guys and Dolls”) and one play (Harvey). I acted in the two musicals and ran lights for “Harvey”. I also acted in another musical (Snow White) with a summer theater camp run by Darrin Peters and Theresa Hooks. Oakwood’s plays were very successful and very much fun. I meet a lot of contacts and friends. I have done Oakwood for two years now and I am sure to do it again this coming summer. I am very excited to discover all the aspects of singing, dancing and acting. I learn so much from just these two programs. I honestly haven’t considered sing or acting as a career until these programs fell into my lap.

Over the summer I had the amazing oppertunity to partake in a trip to go and see “The Phantom of The Opera” at the Majestc Theater in New York. It was only the second time I had gone to New York and was definately (definitely) worth it! I had an amazing time throughout the day walking around the city and seeing the show that evening. The performance was amazing! I had watched the movie the night before so that i would have an idea of what i was watching, and did not really enjoy the movie. Seeing it live was completely different and I really did enjoy it to the fullest. The voices were wonderful and completely breathtaking. the special effects were also very realistic and made it so that you new exactly what was happening. I would love to get the oppertunity (opportunity) to see more live broadway shows in the future. it was a wonderful experience!

Over the summer this year I went to band camp.As corny as this may sound I had a lot of fun.During the first few days it was kind of awkward for the new kids and me because I was hanging out with new people and they were just new in general.During that week we had learned the first movement and part of our ballad, but had the first movement on the field. But as soon as that Thursday came around it wasn’t awkward anymore for anyone and that night Brittany,Tyler,Catie, and I went to Rita’s and hung out.We talked about the great week we had just had and we talked about the coming week.We made plans to go to Applebee’s but bring a couple more people.During that second week though it got tough. We had a parent show that Thursday and we wanted it to look good.So we worked really hard learning our drill and memorizing our music. We started running more,my sight reading ability had increased and so had the musical quality of our show. When the parent show came around we looked good for having just come out of band camp and our accomplishments during those two weeks have been rewarded since. We got first place at our home show, third at Cumberland and we have one today at Shawnee.Marching Band is awesome for anyone who wants to improve thier musical talents like I did!!!!

Recently I attended the play “The Producers” written by Mel Brooks. This experience was spectacular, hilarious, and frightening at the same time. “The Producers” is about two men who want to put on a musical that they want to be a “flop.” In doing this they fail and actually create a hit, on the play “Springtime For Hitler.” Mr. Peters, the choreographer and Roger Dubris, was an extravagant singer and actor. The only scary part of this whole performance was seeing Mr. Peters in a dress. It took place at the Wilmington Drama League. My favorite song was definitely “I Want to be a Producer.” The character Leo Bloom sang this song with Max but Leo took the spotlight with his amazing tone and astounding vibrato. “The Producers” was worth so much more than what the ticket price was, I would see it again any day.

During the summer this year, the musical thing that happened to me was my lovely experience to find a new viola. The old Romanian viola I had was getting way to small for me, so we took the time over summer break to find one. The first place we looked was at William Sulton’s, where I was incredibly disappointed with his instruments. We then tried a place in center city Philadelphia called David Mitchie Violins, where once again I was left unsatisfied. My mom went on the internet and found this viola store in Cleveland, Ohio and was determined to look at their violas. We drove to Pittsburgh to see my uncle which was 5 hours away from my house. The next day, we got up early and drove 3 more hours to Cleveland. None of their violas were right for me, so we left and drove back to my uncles. When we arrived home in New Jersey, we found a store in Maryland…and decided to travel down there to look at their instruments! When we got there, the shop owner handed me the viola and I INSTANTLY fell in love with it. We bought it right away and took it home where it will stay with me throughout my musical career. As you can see, my viola exploration was fantastic and I finally found the right viola for my needs. The funny thing is that all of this happened in a week!

Last summer was a really great experience for me. A couple of days after school ended one of my friends invited me to go to this concert in Pennsylvania, it was an orchestra and a band playing and it went really well. The music they played was amazing; it had a lot of classics and some new music as well. There were a lot of musicians playing and the auditorium they played in was humongous. The really awesome thing was that there was only one vocalist and she sung over the whole orchestra! After the whole thing was finished some of the musicians were in the lobby and my friend and I met with then. I even met a cellist with great talent, he was only about 25 years old and he started playing the cello when he was only 5.

This summer I went to my first concert. I attended the Dave Matthews Band at the Bank Center in Camden. It was so much fun. I went with my dad, his friend and his friends kid. We all had a great time. People were singing along and cheering. There was so much energy and everyone was happy. It was very crowded and there were people everywhere. The lights, I thought, were amazing but the music was even better! They played a lot of music and it was all great! I wish I could go and see them again. Hopefully i will soon!

During this last summer I experienced a show of immense proportions: the concert of Ceremony, Converge, Ghengis Tron, Pulling Teeth, and Coliseum. I attended this fine show with my friend Rich White in Philadelphia thanks to the power of having a license and met up with a few other kids we knew. The bands played inside of a church and the performance of Ceremony was the best by far. The small room was cramped and nearly filled with bodies by the time the band playing started. When the music started you wouldn’t have thought there was room to move but the entire place was moving like a tsunami. I remember being near the front at the start of one song, and then got swept up in the hurricane of people and ended up somewhere near the wall after a song that lasted less than minute. The music was loud and chaotic with everyone shouting the words in unison. Bodies were just flying around and I got punched a few times. It was pretty hardcore.

This summer I had the opportunity to go to the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Michigan. Our journey there felt like forever. We drove a whopping 17 hours from Pennsville to Michigan. When we got there my mom, dad, and I were greeted by tons and tons of friendly faces and outgoing personalities. There were kids from all over the world such as Korea, China, Thailand, Columbia, Spain, Venezuela, Mexico, and others from all across the country. I roomed in a cabin with twelve other people which I eventually became amazing friends with. The first week and a half I was going through some serious “home” sickness and withdrawal from my honkey town life in Millville. Each of the cabin mates was assigned a job…and mine just had to be cleaning toilets. Everyday I would clean toilets then walk to breakfast with Collin. He’s pretty much the greatest violinist ever. Auditions were so depressing; I always felt a wave of disappointment after auditions because they usually ended in epic fail. Every week our orchestra played two huge pieces and performed a concert at the end of the week. It was amazing and I miss it.

This summer I took a trip to New York city with a group of people from the music academy. It was my frist trip to New york, ever. We saw The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theater. It was beautiful. I’d never even seen the movie or anything but I knew some of the songs. My favorite part was everytime they went to the Phantoms layer it looked like they were in a boat. Another one of my favorite parts was in the very beginning when the chandelier came up over the audience. The girl who played Christine had a beautiful voice! She gave me chills everytime she sang. I even got a little misty eyed at times. I love going seeing broadway shows and I’d love to go again.

Dear Mrs. Frampton,
This summer I liked the musician Taylor Swift. I listened to her music every day. My friends and I listened to at least one of her songs every day. My friends that are boys love her and made my summer so fun I videotaped them singing and it was funny. I didn’t do that much musical stuff because I worked a bazillion and one hours this summer. I did listen to a lot of music and thought about music quite frequently. I had a very fun summer and I was happy to come back to school to in lighting (enlighten) myself with new education in all of the subjects especially music. This year is going to be banging because I love to compose even though I am horrible at it. Peace.:]

This summer I was way too busy working for a landscaping company called Maine Stone and Landscaping. I made alot of money over it but I have to write about music so im going to talk about the trip to go see the producers at the walnut. The show was FLIPPING PERFECT!!!!!! The actors were all very professional and had amazing voices. My favorite part of the musical would have to be the song “King of Broadway”. I think that this is the best song because it has its comedy points and gives a really funny look at the main character, Max. Also, the parts that I have tied for second place was the scenes with “Guten Tag Hop Clop” and “Keep It Gay”. “Keep it Gay” was up there because it had really good lyrics that really fit the character, Roger, like a glove. The show was truly amazing and I hope that Mrs. Frampton can get us tickets to go see a great show like that again.

This summer I participated in the Oakwood Summer Theatre, and was in the childrens show, Alice Through The Looking Glass. I played the part of the Red Queen, and it was so much fun. I think i enjoyed it so much because i got to play a mean role, and that is new for me. I had a lot of fun playing this role, and I learned alot about acting and performing on a stage. This experience will help me in the future, if I ever have to play a not nice person on stage again. I think I learned a lot from participating in this show this summer and am looking forward to acting and performing on stage again in the future.

This summer, I went to The American Idol concert. It had the top 12 contestants of the competition from the 2009 season. The concert was a very good experience. I loved it so much! I look forward to watching the show on television every year and when my mom told me we were going I was so excited. For the concert, each contestant came out, they showed a short video of their experience with American Idol, and they started singing. Most of the singers sang three or four songs, one or two of their favorites, one of the judge’s favorites, and one of the audience’s favorites from the season. As it got to the final four contestants from the season, they got to sing five or six songs. Finally, the winner, Kris Allen came out and he got to sing about ten songs. There were many games and activities to do throughout the show as well. It was such a great experience to have and I hope to go the American Idol concert next year.

This summer I went and saw the production of Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs at the middle school because my friend Erika was performing in the play so she had asked me to go so I went to watch her, she was Snow White. I thought it was a very good play with a lot of energy and lovely songs from the voices of many people I knew in my grade. But my favorite song from the production would have to be “Someday My Prince Will Come” which Erika sang which was sung beautifully by her I would have to add. Also, the other songs were great too and the acting was amazing. I would and go see this play again if I got the opportunity, it was defiantly worth my time, and I’m glad Erika asked me to go.

Last year my best friend started to date this boy named Dan who listens to amazing music. We were in the car and he was playing music one night and it was a band called Slightly Stoopid. I had never heard there (their) music or ever heard of them! I immediately fell in love with them. There (They’re) a reggae band (and) they have done songs with many famous people and groups. Every year they do a concert with Snoop Dawg: it’s about diversing (?) music putting all different genres of music together. I’ve yet to go to one: it just past (passed) and I had to (no) possible way to get off work. I would have to say my favorite song by them is called Mr. Music. They have performed with Sublime which is one of my absolute favorite bands. Slightly Stoopid write a lot about happiness and peace. I would love to go see them. I really would love for people to listen to them more. I feel that there (they’re) not really to (too) big around are (our) area – [they more are in like California]?. Everyone listen to them especially if you like chill relaxing music!!

A few months ago, I heard of a musician named William Joseph. He is a pianist and a composer, who released two complete albums. His music mostly consists of piano and orchestra works, but occasionally features other solo instruments.
I enjoy listening to William Joseph’s music because he uses a broad range of settings and themes. His music is intricate in its melodies and harmonies. Every part is audible and important in his work.
William Joseph’s music is not completely classical. He sometimes uses classical themes and arranges them to have a more modern contemporary feel. I recommend his music to musicians everywhere.

I went to see Mr. Peters in “The Producers” at The Wilmington Drama League. The show was so fantastic. Mr. Peters brought so much energy to the show. He played the part of Rodger. Haha. The show was a bag of laughs. The actors were so amazing and their voices were even better. Leo bloom had so much vibrato and excellent tone. Mr. Peters song “Keep it Gay” was my favorite. The song is funny, and witty, and again, I believe that he brought the most energy to the show. I would go to the show again. It was definitely worth the time and money because the show was excellent.

This past summer, I had the pleasure of attending a very unique and uplifting performance. On the 19th of July, I was present at an opera concert called “A Flower Duet,” performed by Sara Andrusiw and Arielle Egan. These two ladies have wonderful, powerful singing voices. Although they may seem young, I believe their voices are quite matured and beautiful! During the performance, the two girls sang duets, and performed songs by themselves. The concert was not just classical music, however. They performed all different types of music, from opera to Broadway musical numbers. I was very proud of Sara going up there, and performing obviously difficult songs. She mastered them, like I know she can and will continue to do! I was very blessed to be able to listen to such talented individuals, who graced the audience with their elegance. I hope one day soon I can attend such a powerful concert again, and be blessed once more by the lovely voices of today’s younger generation of singers.

Over the summer break this year, I had the pleasure of partaking in the Young People’s Theater Workshop Summer Theater Program hosted at Eastern College. YPTW is a theatre group for young students who wish to further their knowledge in the theater arts and performing arts. It’s based out of Swarthmore, PA at the Swarthmore’s Player’s Club. The program was a 4-day long overnight camp, where you take part in several different theater classes throughout the day, and then guests would come and speak to us about being in theater and life outside of the theater. At the end of the program, I took part in a master class hosted by Brian Lowdermilk and Kate Kerrigan, who are a writing team that base themselves in New York. Josh Young even came down from NYC to be one of our concellors and teach a special Audition Prep class. I thought that this was a great experience for me. Not only did I learn a lot about theater, I learned a lot about myself that I hadn’t realized. I made a lot of great friends, as well. I think that this would be a wonderful experience for anyone who wants to pursue any sort of acting or musical theater in their later lives!
