Next blogging topic- playing the piano. This topic was chosen by my 5th period class. They are all progressing at a good rate and seem to enjoy learning to play the piano.
Tell me in 100 words or less your reaction to learning to play the piano: Is it hard or easy for you, do you like to play for your family or friends, does it do anything for you, are you frustrated or motivated?
This is due on Monday, Dec. 14 at 7:00 a.m.

I think in Mrs. Framptons class piano is a great experience for anyone who is willing to learn. Although my experience has been a little challenging i really enjoy learning piano. I think the piano is such a wonderful instrument, and usually when i hear it, it relaxes me. One day i do want to play for my family, if i get good enough. I want to play like all the professionals, but this is a very good start.

Piano playing to me is something that is simply fun and entertaining. Being a musician I enjoy playing music, as well as challenging myself to step up in doing so. In your class, I find it easy to swift by in the piano books, page by page. As much as I complain about it sometimes, I really do enjoy playing the piano. I wish I had been playing since I was 5, like a lot of people have. I have noted that people who start playing instruments since they were very young, are most likely to be amazing when they are older. There are also times I wish that I had picked up the violin when I was young too.. Music to me, is a gateway to my feelings. By playing piano, and opening new doors, I can do so, and enjoy it completely along the way. Amaris Andrade

This is my first year trying to learn the piano and of course everyone has difficulties. For me the piano is very interesting and hard. The piano is like trying to figure out a math problem that you could not get. Which means to me is that everything that’s hard is like a challenge for me and its fun that way. Once I know how to fully learn the piano I would love to play the instrument in front of my family. If I’m trying to learn the piano its feels that I’m trying to accomplish something that I didn’t yet. Yes, sometimes I get frustrated and sometimes I get motivated, but I always try my best. That is how the piano is to me.

I really love the piano. I enjoy playing. It doesn’t frustrate me at all, playing violin frustrates me, no doubt. Piano makes me feel better. Sometimes piano can be difficult, and sometimes I breeze right through songs. It just depends on the song. I can sit up in my room for hours just playing piano because there as so many cool things you can do. Its such an amazing instrument. It never gets old. I’m going to play piano for the rest of my life. I cant imagine just stopping. I hope, this year to get back on piano lessons. I would like to pursue piano so I can get better. That would complete me.

Ok Let’s try this again. I typed up a blog just a few moments ago and pressed the Submit comment box. The computer had an error and wouldnt submit the form.
When i was in 5th grade, I took piano lessons. I didnt like them very much. It was hard to learn and I just couldnt get the hang of it. I got my very first keyboard around the same time. I practiced often and tried for hours. I would eventually give up and retire to bed or something else. The practice never seemed to help. I quit lessons. Little did I know that was a choice that I would regret making.
Coming into the vocal academy I was told I would be playing the piano and being in an advanced music class. I knew how to read music and sing, but the piano? No. Not at all. I only knew how to play Fur Elise and that was by ear.
Now I love to play the piano. It is very hard for me. I normally play one hand of the song and then play the other and then try to put them together. But I still love to play.

I used to play when I was younger. However then it wasn’t as fun i don’t know why.It was probably because i had such a weird life at the time. So I quit piano, if i would have known i needed it now i would never have quit. My life now is still weird but since its school work i can’t just put it off, i have to find the time to do it and i found out that i really love it. Its still hard to get used to it. Altogether i love Piano.

I love playing the piano. I learn so much in your class, Frampy, and I’ll be very very sad when I graduate. When i started in the Academy, I didn’t know how to play barely any piano at all, and now i can play fairly well. I think playing the piano is a lot of fun, and i hope i can get better over the next year and a half.

I like to play the piano. I take private lessons in addition to playing at school. I’ve been taking lessons since I was seven years old. We have mini concerts every month for my piano studio. All of the students and their families get together and listen to us play. I also play for my family sometimes during the holidays. Right now I am learning a lot of Christmas music that I plan to play for my family this Christmas. I like to play piano in school because I challenge myself with how fast I can learn a piece. I wish I was better at the piano but I still like it anyway.

I enjoying playing piano in class. I’d much prefer playing guitar but at least I have a way of applying both theory and sight reading into a daily practice regiment and it’s another string instrument…sorta. I also prefer playing what I want and creating more than having to go through every page of the book and playing mundane melodies that I will probably forget in days. Though I do understand the importance of gradual progress in gaining the correct technique to play more efficiently, I believe that we should continually strive to make playing the instrument beneficial and yet still fun. Also, it’s a lot more reliable than Finale so that’s always a plus.

I love playing the piano. I started playing when I was thirteen and took lessons out at Major Soundworks in Mannington. I progressed quickly and decided I didnt really need lessons anymore since I already knew all the notes and could read music well, so now I am teaching myself to play more difficult music. I really like playing piano daily in Mrs. Frampton’s class. It helps me have daily practicing time to I get better at reading music and hopefully someday develop into a skilled musician.

I personally think Piano frustrates me. I do not have a Piano at home and do not plan on getting one. It’s kind of hard for me to learn a whole new song every other day. I always get yelled at, not mentioning any names. (MRS.FRAMPTON). Other then that I enjoy it if I know what I’m doing. K bye.

Playing the piano in Mrs. Framptons class is a lot of fun. I had zero experience playing before starting her music class, and now in the second marking period of school I am really progressing. I learn more about it everyday, and now that I am learning how to do it, I can practice on my keyboard at home. I would love to continue to learn how to play the piano because it has a beautiful sound. It’s exciting to learn how to play another instrument, although sometimes it can be frustrating when your fingers just don’t do exactly what you want them to do. I like taking time out of my stressful day at school and playing the piano. I would really like to further my piano playing and keep advancing to a better piano player.

My reaction to playing the piano is that I love it. It can be hard at times, but once I get it right, it just makes me so happy. I like to play for my family and friends, especially when I learn something new, or if I make something up. Playing the piano definitely motivates me. If I’m watching a movie and I hear piano in it, I immediately want to learn how to play it. I tend to get frustrated very easily but that just makes me want to keep trying. Playing and listening to the piano relaxes me. There will be multiple times a day when i just feel like playing or listening to it. It calms me, and it does motivate me. I enjoy playing the piano very much.

I have always enjoyed playing the piano. For 3-4 years in elementary school, I took lessons once a week with a very dear lady, Mrs. Hoffman. I loved learning the necessities. I wish I had more patience to seriously learn how to play, like Rhea. However, being able to joke around and have fun with Sara is really fun as well. Anything with music is enjoyable to me, I just really do not like the entire idea of practicing. Learning scales and all the different things able to be done in music, especially with piano, opens my eyes to many things I may not had seen without piano playing.

I really love the sound of the piano but the truth is I can’t play it. It takes too much effort for me and just makes me frustrated. Although I wish I could play easily like most people can, it’s just not something that comes naturally to me. But learning to play in your class has given me an opportunity that most people don’t get. Most people don’t even know where the notes are on a piano, and at least I know that. So in a way I feel privileged that I got the opportunity to learn but I’m just not that good. I hope that if I keep continuing to play, I will eventually get better.

I love playing piano in Mrs. Frampton’s class! Sometimes it can be hard and challenging but I try to get the songs right. I tend to play the piano really fast and make a lot of mistakes but Mrs. Frampton has helped me to slow down my playing and make fewer mistakes. Piano is fun for me and for most of the time I find it kind of easy. The thing that makes piano hard for me is that, when I play bass the thumb isn’t a numbered finger but on the piano it is. When my grandfather was in the nursing home I used to play for him, but I can’t play for him anymore.
I still play for my mom and aunt occasionally. Overall I love piano!

Playing the piano is one of my favorite things about your class. Though it frustrates me when I can’t play a song I still think it’s one of my favorite things to do in school. Most of the time I don’t even play the songs in the book. I just like messing around and pushing on the keys. Your class is always the highlight of my day. =]

The piano is my favourite instrument. I think it’s interesting that both hands are doing the same thing (as compared to a violin [&etc], where the left hand is on the neck and the right hand has the bow). I usually end up frustrated while playing the piano. If I have to actually work on a song for more than a few minutes, I get annoyed. It’s neat that we do it in class, instead of spending the whole period reading about composers or something.
December 13, 2009 at 7:38 pm |
I enjoy playing the piano even though I’m not that wonderful at it. I have played piano before for about a week but I didn’t like practicing it so I stopped. Since playing in Mrs. Frampton’s class I like playing it again. At my grandparent’s house they have a keyboard and a music book and for the past couple weeks I have been practicing playing America The Beautiful, I’m getting pretty good at it. I’ve also realized that I really need to work on playing with my left hand and reading bass clef music. If I keep practicing hopefully I will exceed (succeed?) with piano.

Playing the piano is something different for me. I have previously expressed a desire to play it, or simply use it practice a vocal selection at home. However, I simply just played my keyboard for the sake of learning my music. Upon realizing I wanted to be a music educator that desire transformed into a reality. I now set aside at least 10 minutes at home to practice my piano technique. Being a beginner, playing the piano is similar to opening “Pandora’s Box.” While many forms of misery can puncture one (such as frustration, blockades, and ignorance) there is always that hope that remains that your hard work and motivation to improve and succeed will ultimately guide you through. Though I am still learning I enjoy playing the piano and look towards the day when hopefully I can become accomplished at it.

I love the piano, the instrument takes a long time to master, but when you do, the music is amazing. I am not having any trouble with playing the piano in your class, I just procrastinate. I am working on a hard piece at home, “The River Flows in You”- Yiruma, i would like to have this done by January. Its a beautiful piano selection, i would like to bring in into class. Being in your classs gives me more, confidence in my music.

To be quite truthful I never wanted to learn how to play the piano. I always thought the instrament was rather boring and dull. But now that I’ve learned how to play, I’ve leanred how to love it as well. I could be wring but I think it comes very easily to me. The thing that gets me excited is a challange. Me being a Star Wars freak, I thought to bring in my piano solo book and see if I could play it in class. Mrs. Frampton said yes, to my pleasure, and I set off picking all “the hardest ones”, as Mrs. Frampton would say. It gets frustrating sometimes when you have played the same twenty measures twenty hundred times. But I just put all my effort and motivation towards the twenty first measure, with a smile much like Han Solo’s upon my face(though not nearly as wonderful)!

I think that playing the piano is very simple, yet extremely difficult. I know where every key is located and how to count out the beats, but when I have to put them together my brain turns off. I also don’t like reading in the bass clef. But, despite all of that, I really do love playing the piano. I think it is such a beautiful instrument and I am so envious of those who play better than I do. I really hope I continue to get better as the year goes on.

Mrs.frampton should be happy that I remembered as soon as I woke up this morning that I had to do this. I think that playing piano is really fun. At first I thought it was going to be hard, but as soon as I started playing I felt that it came almost naturally. I think it’s cool that we are the only students (academy) that can play piano in school. How many schools can actually do that! Not many! Anyway, playing the piano is one of the highlights of my day. It’s so much fun. The sound of the piano is absolutly entrancing. You can make it sound haunted, happy, sad, beautiful, sweet ,meliodious, etc. I think it’s one of only vesitile instruments, it has so many ways to play it. It has also helped me become a better sight reader and a better praticer. I’m better about remembering to practice because I want to practice piano then I remember about my clarinet. Even though I have never played piano before I am half way through the first book and I think It comes pretty naturally to me. I’m so happy I’m learning it!!
December 12, 2009 at 3:54 pm |
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano. Now I can. I love to play piano now that I get the hang of it. It’s coming easier and easier as i go on in the book. I took home a book and i practice on my keyboard that i have at home.

Okay, I already wrote this, but it didn’t publish and it erased it all. Now I am angry!
I really enjoy playing the piano very much, I hate how it doesn’t use the clef that I play. That would be my luck. My favorite song to play is Greensleeves, I have it memorized. I want to learn to play like Lady Gaga at the VMAs, that’d be so great. I plan on playing piano for a while, it intrigues me very much.

Mrs Frampton,
I like playing the piano alot. Im Not that good at it but oh well, and with mrs. Framptons help i will become better. I like playing scales, and playing with ama too. My favorite song as you know is allouette(if thats how you spell it). I play it everyday and it makes me happy when i play it. I only started playing my freshman year when Mrs. Frampton taught me. It was difficult at first, but when my class(Jessi) and and Mrs. Frampton helped i got better in no time. I love playing the piano and when i finish a new song i always feel accomplished. So thank you very much Mrs. Frampton for teaching me how to play the piano its awesome. :]

For me, how I feel about playing the piano always differs. At times I enjoy it more than others. It usually depends on the song I am learning to play. Last year I didn’t enjoy playing the piano as much as I do this year. It also depends on the difficulty of the song I am playing or how pretty it is. If the song is pretty I am more likely to be motivated. I practice at home, in my room. I occasionally play for my family. Usually, I am playing and they hear me. Unless I am particularly excited.

Learning to play the piano has really been a fun part of my Advanced Music classes through the years. It can be frustrating at times, but when you finally get a song that you’ve been working on for a while, it’s worth it. Plus, piano is something that’s going to stay with you for the rest of your life. No matter what, you won’t forget the basics. I’m glad that I was able to learn!
December 11, 2009 at 11:04 pm |
I love playing the piano. I am very motivated to play it. I think it is easy to play. Most of the music i learn is something I watch off of youtube. I enjoy showing my family new things I learn on the keyboard and now have one at my house so i can play whenever I want. It is one of my favorite instruments and I feel as if I can express myself just by playing something depending on if it is a fast or slow song and if it is sad or happy.

I learn the piano extremely weird. I play a song a few times and have it perfect, I play it a few more times and change the way I play it. Then The next day, I come in and play it and sound terrible. I like just getting it over with. That’s the only way I can learn the piano, and I tend to be half asleep everyday so I read something and it doesn’t register or I don’t even notice it. Sometimes I can siteread the song perfectly. It’s just a matter of getting better at playing until everything seems easy.

When I started playing the piano in Mrs. Frampton’s class, I got through the first book with no trouble at all. I had taken piano lessons from fourth grade until the middle of my seventh grade year. I loved it right from the beginning, from the first lesson I took. I’m on the second book now, along with a scale book, and it is still pretty easy. I look forward to coming to her class almost every day to try and learn a new song or two. Playing the piano comes naturally to me, and I still love it.

I think the piano is a beautiful instrument that i wish i could play better. i hope to one day be at least decent. However, at the moment i fail at playing piano. I can read the music and that is my only saving grace. I am glad we have to learn it but at the moment i am frustrated that i am not better than i am.

As you know more then anyone Mrs. Frampton i despise playing paino.
I for some reason can not get the hang of it playing panio just really isnt my thing at all! Ive tried to practice at home nore then a few times but i just always get mad and quit. The only time i really ever play is when you make us play in class or when i need to practice my parts in my choir music! Im sorry i dont love playing paino the way you wish we all did ! :]

I enjoy playing the piano in your class. If you choose to go into music as a carrier it is a very good skill to have. it is challenging at times however it is well worth it in the end. I enjoy playing the piano and feel accomplished everytime i completed a new song. I like that we are given the opportunity to learn to play the piano during school instead of having to do it outside of school or not at all. Playing the piano is helpful for singers because you now possess the ability to plunk out your parts to songs on a piano, making music easier to learn. A lot of music theory has to do with the piano that we’ve learned so far so its helpful for that too.

Piano is a third of my life. The other two thirds are singing and basketball. Learning to play the piano in Mrs. Frampton’s class is the highlight of my day. I’ve been playing since about September of 2008 and I’ve learned more in the past 3 months in Mrs. Frampton’s class than I have in a year alone. It has helped me become a better a vocalist and I now understand music better as well. I don’t have many words left before I reach my limit so long story short, I LOVE IT!!! And am very thankful for the opportunity.
December 6, 2009 at 11:04 pm |
My reaction to learning the piano was I wasn’t sure about playing because I have never played the piano before and learning a new instrument is sometimes hard. The piano for me was harder and frustrating at time for me in the beginning but then as I progressed and learned more and more about it and figured out all the notes it started to get easier for me. And I am really starting to enjoy it a lot. Also, I am learning a lot about the piano in class too and I think I am getting much better and progressing well. I play the piano for family and friends whenever I get the chance to also, I practice whenever I have spare time.
December 6, 2009 at 3:22 am |
Playing the piano really is enjoyable! I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano but being “too busy” as my mom would say, and not having the drive to teach myself, I never did. Now, during this class I am doing the work that is required while also doing something I have always wanted to. Although it is fun, it can sometimes also be stressful. When I first start on a new song or a now chord, I tend to get very upset with myself when I dont pick it up fast enough. Then, when you finally do, the feeling of accomplishment you have is great! I am very greatful that we take time from learning about music theory, to explore the black and white keys of a keyboard.

The piano is probably my favorite instrument, yes even more then the cello. I really enjoy and love playing the piano. I started playing this year and academy and taking lessons with my piano teacher Mrs. Hoffman. She is just a really amazing inspiration for piano. I actually wished i had start to learn earlier so i would really learn alot more quicker and it would be fun to play fast music. I just find the sound of it gorgeous! Piano is probably the basis of all instruments and it’s really easy to learn other instruments through piano. I practiced everyday and I never get tired of it. I really want to continue playing the piano for my entire life and even pursue it in my future.

Just so I don’t forget about this assignment, i’m doing it now. Playing piano in Mrs. Frampton’s class is amazing. No other school around gets to play piano during the school day…and we do! I feel special being here at Pennsville. I also take piano outside of school and it’s one of my loves. I will continue to play all throughout my lifetime, especially since i’m going to be a music teacher. Playing piano motivates me to practice more on my own and put a little bit more effort into playing piano and also my viola. Playing piano during school is just one of the many things that makes this school absolutely awesome.
